An extract from: "The Anatomy of Angels"

"Unlike other creatures gifted with the power of flight, the primary purpose of an angel’s wings is aesthetic; the power of flight is a heavenly blessing designed to create wonder and at times “mighty dread” in the sometimes troubled minds of humanity; rather than to facilitate hunting or for defence. In addition, the Angelic form has been celestially designed and is not subject to the terrestrial laws of evolution. This has meant that an angel’s physiology is not necessarily suited to all possible forms of flight and injury to the upper back, shoulders and neck often occur if care is not taken to protect these areas when flying at speed. Treatment for such injuries and advice on how to avoid them is provided by the Angelic Osteopathy Clinic at St. Basil’s Hospital.”
